Pastor Caprice Brown

In July 2016, Pastor Brown was called to serve her first appointment at Community UMC located in Laurel, MD.  She feels blessed to have this opportunity to serve God’s people and the community.  Pastor Brown is a Certified Candidate for Ordained Ministry in the United Methodist Church.  She graduated from Wesley Theological Seminary in May 2016 with a Masters of Divinity Degree.  She has interest in the following ministry areas:  Pastoral Care and Counseling; Christian Education; and Christian Spiritual Formation.  She also has gifts in the areas of:  preaching, teaching, prayer, communication, and compassion.
Pastor Brown has served in the following leadership roles at her home church (Ebenezer UMC, Lanham MD):  Co-Chair of Nurture Ministries, Teacher of Pre-K Sunday School Class, Lay Speaker, Co-Coordinator of Prayer Ministry and Facilitator of Adult Bible Studies.  As a Lay Speaker at Ebenezer UMC, she developed a love for visiting with sick and shut-in members and serving Communion.  She was also blessed with opportunities to preach during Sunday morning worship services.
Pastor Brown was blessed with the opportunity to serve as a Ministerial Intern at Good Hope Union UMC for 2 years.  She served the church by:  facilitating seasonal Adult Bible Study Classes, serving as Worship Leader, and preaching on a regular basis.  She was also a part of the Worship Committee and the Lay Servant team.  She was blessed to work closely with the Pastor that taught her about pastoral leadership in the church.  She was also blessed with opportunities to assist with Communion.
Pastor Brown is a graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, NC, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering.  She is currently employed with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the Office of Aerospace Medicine (AAM) as a Senior Management and Program Analyst.  She completed a Women’s Leadership Collaborative program from the Brookings Executive Education Institution from October 2014 to May 2015.  She also has completed training in the area of Mediation for the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) process for the federal government.
Pastor Brown has been married to Angelo Brown for 19 years.  By their union, they have been blessed by a beautiful daughter, Angela Jewel, who is a high school student.  She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. James Lloyd Jr. of Oxford, NC.  Caprice is a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend who has a passion for God.  She has a heart for the things of Christ and a heart for all people.
